The Department is deeply saddened by the passing of Mr Mbulelo Musi, a communicator par excellence and a fearless fighter of uMkhonto we Sizwe.
The Department wishes to extend its heartfelt condolences to the family, friends, and loved ones of Mbulelo Musi. As a freedom fighter, Musi had made an immense contribution to the liberation of South Africa and the birth of democracy.
The Department also remains grateful for his commendable work as the former Head of Communications and later, as the Chief Director, Socio Economic Support in the Department of Military Veterans. He was the personification of excellence. He was passionate about delivering quality service to Military Veteran's.
Mbulelo Musi, a former Umkhonto we Sizwe (MK) combatant and member was a highly regarded and accomplished public servant, and veteran communicator who served government with distinction.
Musi was one of the survivors of the Matola raid, which demonstrated beyond doubt the brutality of the apartheid killing machine. He was a disciplined and fearless freedom fighter with immeasurable political and ideological clarity.
In his latest role since 2022, Mbulelo Musi served as the National Political Commissar of the uMkhonto we Sizwe Liberation War Veterans (MKLWV).
