Skills development
A Military Veteran or his/her dependant may, subject to Military Veterans Act 18 of December 2011, Section 5 (1) have access to the following benefits:
- education, training and skills development

facilitation of employment placement
- The Skills Development Programme facilitates:
- Access to training and development intervention through SETA’s, private sector service providers as well as other government departments
- Job opportunities in various government and private sector through Memorandum of Understanding and partnership agreements
- Recognition of Prior Learning for transferability of skills attained.
- Criteria to qualify for skills development funding:
- a positive verification on the DMV database;
- database verified dependents.
- Documents required to apply for skills development funding:
- DMV application form
- Suppliers database form (institution of learning);
- Quotation (must not exceed R 40 000.00);
- Certified copy of an identity document of beneficiary and if the applicant is a dependent, he or she must bring both his/her certified copy of an identity document and of their beneficiary’s copy.
NB: Department of Military Veterans does not pay deposit, advance or make any payments to service providers. This is attributed to the PFMA Act which states that a service should be rendered before any payment can be made.
