Military Veterans Health and Wellness Initiatives

Your health and wellness are very important!

The Department of Military Veterans has observed that most Military Veterans call for healthcare when they are already too sick and without proper authorisation to access the SAMHS health facilities.

In order to ensure prevention of ill-health, early detection and treatment of illness, as well as ensuring that healthcare is given to qualifying Military Veterans, the Department of Military Veterans is pleased to announce that it will be issuing healthcare cards as well as provide free health screening to targeted Military Veterans throughout the nine (9) provinces.

Qualification for healthcare support is based on the following criteria:

  • Be a registered Military Veteran on the database of the Department of Military Veterans.
  • Total income per year must be less than R300, 000.00.

In order to access the free health screening, the Military Veterans must:

  • Attend on the scheduled date and time in their province (listed below)
  • Bring along: ID, Proof of income (or affidavit if unemployed) and the letter that they have received from the Department of Military Veterans. (These letters will be posted soon)

In addition to this general notice, the Department of Military Veterans will:

  • Post letters to the targeted Military Veterans as well as sms’ses informing them about this initiative, the dates and venue.
  • Communicate and send the list of the targeted Military Veterans to the Provincial Military Associations.

The Military Veterans Health and Wellness Initiative will take place from 09:00 until 16:00 on the following dates:
