The Department of Military Veterans condemns violent protests currently unfolding in Ekurhuleni

26 August 2013

The Director-General (DG) of the Department of Military Veterans (DMV) Mr Tsepe Motumi has strongly condemned the violent protests that are currently unfolding in the name of military veterans.

“We strongly condemn the violent protest that is currently unfolding in Ekurhuleni by so called military veterans, we urgently call on those involved to immediately desist from violent action lest they face the full might of the law. Whilst military veterans like any other citizens have a right to peaceful protest, violent protests are totally unacceptable” said the DG.

The Department of Military Veterans calls on military veterans’ formations, the Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Municipality as well as all stakeholders to work together in finding lasting solutions in a peaceful manner. The DMV will tomorrow be sending a team of senior officials to meet with the various stakeholders in Ekurhuleni to assist in finding lasting solutions.
