The Department of Military Veterans sends its deepest condolences to the family of the late Mr Clarence Makwetu the former President of the PAC and former Commander in Chief of the Azanian People’s Liberation Army(APLA) on the passing of his beloved wife, Mrs Mandisa Makwetu.

Ms Makwetu was an esteemed member of the generation of leadership that gave South Africa Sabelo Phama,Xola Mketi,Sgqibo Mpendulo, Tshediso Gumede and many other great APLA combatants. Their house was used as a safe space for planning operations and welcoming returning combatants from exile.

Mandisa Makwetu will be remembered as a woman of courage, character and passion. Her legacy in the realms of community activism and youth mobilization is a priceless gift to the country.

The Department will continue to honour and restore the dignity of military veterans for social cohesion and nation building.
