The Department of Military Veterans will be conducting a verification drive in Mpumalanga from 22 September to 5 November 2025.
This verification is specifically for non-statutory force (NSF) members who did not integrate into the South African National Defence Force (SANDF). The database verification drive is part of the Department’s ongoing commitment to ensuring that all qualifying applicants are verified as legitimate military veterans and therefore able to access benefits due to them.
According to the Military Veterans Act, 2011, a military veteran is:
A South African citizen who rendered military service to any of the military organisations, … and has completed their military training and no longer performs military duties, and has not been dishonourably discharged from that military organisation.

The Department encourages all NSF members in Mpumalanga who fall within this category to attend and finalise their verification.
