Lebona Mosia

Lebona Mosia was born on January 18, 1952 in Alexandra Tpwnship. He was active in the June 1976 student protests and left the country in August 1976. He travelled to Manzini in Swaziland where he joined the ANC and MK. He spent a number of years in ANC military camps in Angola.

While in exile, he also furthered his training in politics and journalism in the former East Germany (German Democratic Republic - GDR), Ghana, and the United Kingdom German Kingdom. On his return to the country in December 1991, he joined Rhodes University as a political science lecturer. He later became Dean of the Faculty of Arts 1996-1999 and Head of Journalism Department 1997-2002 at the Tshwane Univerrsity of Technology.

He left academia to join public service, where he remained until his retirement. His story is about sorrow, anger, redemption, loss, and healing. It is about fighting for what one believes in, it is about persevering in the face of what may seem like insurmountable obstacles, knowing that the price one pays, is worth the sacrifice.
