Minister gives impetus to the Turnaround of the department

The Minister of Defence and Military Veterans Ms Nosiviwe Mapisa-Nqakula and Deputy Minister of Defence and Military Veterans, Mr Kebby Maphatsoe, today met with the Senior Managers of the Department of Military Veterans and the Turnaround Strategic team to ensure acceleration of delivery of benefits to Military Veterans.

The Minister instructed the Management of the Department of Military Veterans and the Turnaround Strategic team to accelerate the delivery of benefits such as education support to Military Veterans and their beneficiaries, housing delivery to the most destitute military veterans, as well as health and wellness support to the sickliest.

“We must work with the sense of urgency especially given the fact that military veterans especially those who fought for the liberation are dying almost every week. I therefore expect that this matter will be treated in the urgency and sensitivity it deserves” said the Minister.

The Department of Military Veterans will be undertaking visits to the provinces to ensure that matters relating to education support as well as other benefits stipulated in the Military Veterans Act 18 of 2011 are all accelerated.
