Military Veteran, Major General (ret.) William Nkonyeni

The Director-General of the Department of Military Veterans’, Mr Tsepe Motumi has expressed condolences to the family of the deceased, Major General William Nkonyeni, who will be laid to rest on Wednesday the 02 April at Avalon Cemetery. The burial ceremony will take place at Koma Street, Dlamini-Soweto from 08h00.

“Former Chief of Operations (Rt) Major General William Nkonyeni played a significant role in uniting the country’s Defence Force through the re-integration of non-statutory forces to form one Defence Force, that serves all our people and defend our country.

He holds a special place in the history of the Department of Military Veterans, as he was at one time the Director of Military Veterans affairs, in the Department of Defence, which is the directorate that formed the connection of what has evolved to be the Department of Military Veterans. To the family, the Department of Military Veterans and all military veterans, I convey my heartfelt condolences, his contribution will be solely missed” said the Director General, Mr Tsepe Motumi.

Major General Nkonyeni was born on the 15 August 1953 and passed on the 22nd March 2014.
