Minister puts the DG and DDG on special leave

The Minister of Defence and Military Veterans Ms Nosiviwe Mapisa Nqakula, has today the 22 April 2014 after considering a high risk assessment report conducted by Internal Audit within the Department of Military Veterans, decided to place the Director General, Mr Tsepe Motumi and the Deputy Director General-Corporate Services General Lifeni Make on special leave. This is to allow for an investigation to be conducted on matters arising from the Internal Audit.

The Minister has directed the Secretary of Defence Dr Sam Gulube, to facilitate that the investigation be conducted with immediate effect and be concluded in the shortest possible time. The investigation is going to be conducted under the auspices of the Department of Defence.
