13 February 2014

The Department of Military Veterans, in its drive to move services closer to military veterans and to ensure easy access to benefits by military veterans and their dependents has relocated to a new building on 1052 Festival Street, Hatfield, Pretoria.

In order to accelerate the process of making sure that military veterans receive their benefits, their database is being processed to ensure that the most needy and vulnerable military veterans are identified and provided with the necessary assistance in terms of education, health, jobs and other social needs.

57 000 military veterans are currently in the department database including those from the SADF, world wars, non-statutory forces as well as former TBVC states.

“In the roll out of benefits, priority is given to the most needy and disadvantaged military veterans majority of whom come from former non statutory forces. The database also includes former members of the SADF who were permanent service men as well as TBVC states and the process of the database is meant to ensure that the database is credible and that the progressive realization of these benefits to all military veterans is realized more efficiently and effectively across the various categories of military veterans in the long term” said the Director General, Mr Tsepe Motumi

The department is committed to facilitating delivery, coordinating all activities that recognizes and entrench the restoration of dignity and appreciation of the contribution of Military Veterans, to our freedom and nation building.
