TombstoneUnveiling of Mandla "Blackman" Mnisi

The Department of Military Veterans as part of its legal mandate to honour and memorialise Military Veterans, will be taking part in the tombstone unveiling of Mandla Mnisi known as “Blackman”. Mr Mnisi died by poisoning, while on a mission in Swaziland by the then apartheid security forces in August in 1980.

Mandla Mnisi left the country to join in the armed struggle in 1976, and carried out several assignments given to him by uMkhonto we Sizwe high command.

Some of the dignitaries who are expected to attend the unveiling are General Siphiwe Nyanda (Rt), who used to work closely with Blackman, including Ambassador George Nene as well as many other senior uMkhonto we Sizwe veterans.
