Launch of the digitisation of the Military Veterans Heritage Programme

The Department of Military Veterans and Department of Communications will be launching the first ever Digitisation of the Military Veterans Heritage Programme on 26 April 2014 aimed at supporting the preservation of the South African Military Veterans Heritage.

The Department of Communications initiated the digitisation of the Military Veterans Content Programme to target both the non-statutory and statutory forces. The programme aims to record, profile and digitise the history and experiences of Military Veterans formations as well as individual Military Veterans stories. 

This event, which is in line with the 20 years celebration of democracy and freedom, is aimed at honouring heroes and heroines who fought for the freedom and democracy and are helping the country to develop. 

This event will be hosted by Ministers Yunus Carrim and Nosiviwe Mapisa-Nqakula and is expected to be attended by amongst others various Military Veterans formations, government departments, business, labour and civil society.
