Lukhanji Housing Project

The Department of Military Veterans launched the Lukhanji Housing Project, in the Chris Hani Region, Eastern Cape, on 29 September 2015.

The Lukhanji Housing Project, in partnership with the Department of Human Settlement, is testimony to the Department’s commitment to accelerate the provision of decent houses to the Military Veterans.

For 2015/16 financial period, the Department’s service delivery priorities includes the building of 1000 new housing units for Military Veterans who are homeless, the repairs of their dilapidated properties and the provision of relief to those whose mortgage bonds are in distress.

Lukhanji Housing Project will provide 200 housing units to qualified Military Veterans. These houses measuring 50 square metre comes standard with:

  • 2 Bedrooms
  • Kitchen
  • Fitted kitchen cupboards, stove, sink, hot and cold water taps
  • Plastered and painted interior
  • Ceiling throughout the house
  • Tiling
  • Single carport
  • Fencing around the yard

 

Beside the Lukhanji Housing Project, several other projects are on-going in all the provinces. Houses in these projects will be handed over to Military Veterans as and when they become completed.
